I will get better at using godot next year

I think I learned about Godot in 2021 and this year I made a few projects with it by following skillshare courses. However there have been long stretches where I have not used godot at all.

And I want to learn how to use godot better. So I need to use godot more and need to learn a lot more about godot.

I don’t know if I will ever be able to design and build any of my own games in godot. But, next year I want to try and make my own video game. Or maybe I could design and make some software with godot.

So I hope my godot skills improve next year.

I will get a lot better using blender in 2023

I figure I should be a blender expert by now since I have been using it since blender 2.43. Sadly I am not a blender expert.

When I first started using blender I thought I needed a tutorial to follow to make everything so I made nothing. Say if I wanted to make a coffee cup I thought oh, I need to follow a tutorial.

I remember one tutorial I tried to make my way though but, never finished was a 3d character modeling tutorial. Maybe I still have the file somewhere of my unfinished model.

I would use blender off and on but, usually not everyday. And maybe I would go weeks or months without using blender. And by that time I had forgotten a lot of things I had learned.

It was only in 2016 when I started making my own music that I started making projects with blender. I don’t think anything I made was great however they were projects that I made. And that is better than not making anything.

I have not made a song in awhile so I have not made any blender projects of my own in awhile. And I want that to change.

I like making my own projects instead of following tutorials because I have freedom. I have freedom to do what I want when I follow a tutorial but, I like to follow the tutorial as close as I can.

So hopefully in 2023 I will make a lot of projects with blender.

2022 was the first year that I used a version of blender after 3.0. Before this year the newest version of blender I had used was blender 2.79.

I like the blender 3.4 UI a lot better than blender 2.79’s UI. And definitely a lot better than the blender 2.42 UI. Blender did not look as good back then that is for sure.

I had never tried geometry nodes in blender so I thought

why not try this Geometry nodes terrain generator tutorial. And so far I have made it close to halfway through the tutorial and my terrain does not look like its supposed to. I have no idea what I did wrong. So my first attempt at using geometry nodes is not a success. I will try the tutorial again tomorrow.

I know I need to get better at using nodes. I shy away from using nodes because they look so complicated. I know nodes are never going to get easier if I don’t challenge myself and use nodes. So I will try to use nodes more.

The screen shot of my not so great looking piece of terrain is in the picture below. I only did half the tutorial. Then I gave up. As I said I will try again tomorrow.

Yesterday a new version of krita came out

I had the an older version of Krita but, had never used it. I had heard about Krita awhile ago and wanted to learn how to use it. I have never even opened the program until today.

I think its supposed to be more like photoshop than gimp. Gimp is another program I have wanted to learn to use but, never done much with.

I am not sure what I can do with Krita but, I want to at least make some art with it. I figure it would be better to know how to use krita so that I can use it for maybe making textures for models I make in blender.

I have been playing type racer

type racer which is an online game where I you can compete in a typing race.

Its sure a good thing that I learned how to type in school otherwise I would not be able to write this blog, use blender, or program very easily. Not that I program much.

Before learning how to type I had my mom type my papers on an electrical typewriter. I have a memory when I was real young of us having a old mechanical typewrite and using that.

I don’t think we used that old typewriter to type anything. I think it was more having fun watching the mechanical levers hit the paper and make a mark the paper. I don’t know what happened to that typewriter or even how long we had it or even if it worked.

I wonder if would be more fun to use a typewriter to type than a computer. Sometimes I think so but, I would have to be a more accurate typier. Somteims I make a lot of mistakes.

So maybe typeracer will help me become a more accurate typier. When learned to type and I was in school I could type about 30 words per minute. At that time I did not have a personal computer so I never practiced typing except at school.

When I play typeracers sometimes I can get over fifty words per minute. I have never won a race though. The mistakes are what ruin my chances of a win.

Maybe one day I will win a race. I hope so. I want to fill the thrill of a typing victory.

I learned about bus simulator

from a article I got from an MIT technology newsletter I read.

I never thought that any video game company made a bus simulator. I have heard of a truck simulator, train simulator, farm simulator games but, I had never heard of a bus simulator. Oh, yes and I have heard of bee simulator.

So make that 2 simulator video games I want to play. Bee simulator and bus simulator 21. I used to ride a bus to school sometimes but, I have never ridden a public transportation bus. AT least I don’t remember ever having ridden one.

A bus simulator seems more exciting to me than other simulators. It seems like there would be more to do than say playing a truck simulator.

So if I ever stream on twitch or put videos on youtube again I want to stream or post video of myself playing bus simulator.

I can’t wait to try A.I to write blender python scripts

I want to learn how to write python scripts for blender. Writing python scripts for blender is the main reason I want to learn python. Well as well as using python for machine learning.

So I saw about using open ai new a.i. to write blender scrips. And I think its so cool that I can put on prompts and have the a.i. write a python script that I can then run in blender. I still want to learn coding though.

There is an add-on for blender that lets me sign in to the a.i. and then use it from within blender.

I have not tried the open a.i. tool yet but, someday I hope to because it looks so cool and fun. I wonder what prompts I could think up. So I hope I don’t forget about this tool and never use it. Or I could forget about the tool.

I hope I don’t.

Today I emptied my email inbox

My inbox for this particular email account has not been empty since February of 2021. And I thought oh, I will eventually get around to emptying it. But, before I emptied it the emails kept piling up.

I wanted to read all the emails however that would have taken more time than I wanted so I decided to dele the emails that I was not that interested in and only read what I wanted to. After all I don’t have to read all the emails in my inbox. There is always the delete option.

So today finally my inbox is empty. I hope I keep it that way. Its much nicer to have a clean inbox that to have hundreds of emails sitting their for me to read.

Dream ai looks fun

I learned about dream.ai from a mit newsletter I read. All I have to do is put in some text, select an Art Style and press create and in about 30 seconds artwork appears.

I wish I could make art that quick with blender, gimp, krita, and inskcape. For that matter I wish I could make my own art with any of those programs. I want to get so much better making art on a computer.

And I also want to get better drawing art on paper. Though the problem I have with paper is that I worry about wasting paper.
