I finally finished the pandas course

on kaggle. I don’t remember when I started working through it. I figure it must be over a year since I started. I suppose I never thought I would ever complete that course. But, I did it.

I do wish I did not uncomment the hint and solutions so much. I was not that good at the exercises. So I hope that I will get better at using pandas. For that matter I hope that I am able to get better at pandas. Because I don’t know if I have what it takes to program. I do what to try though.

I hope to go through all the kaggle courses and also make a lot of projects on kaggle and also enter kaggle competitions. I joined kaggle over 4 years ago and have yet to do much on the website. So I hope to started doing more on kaggle now.

I am not going to live forever so if I want to program I need to start making programs now. Otherwise I fear that I will never program anything. And the reason I wanted to get a computer was because I wanted to write programs. And I have not accomplished that goal. But, I still have a dream of writing a program. The want to be a programmer in me is still alive and kicking. So I hope I will get a lot better at machine learning.

I finally finished the kaggle

intermediate machine learning course. I don’t remember when I started on that course. I assume over a year ago.

I think I have down when I need to do for missing values, categorical values. I know a little bit how to use a pipeline, cross validation and XGboost.

I know I need to practice what I learned from the course or I will forget it. I don’t think I will ever be ready to do my own machine learning projects. But, I think getting a machine learning project is what I need to do.

Also the intermediate learning course talked about data leakage. It talked about two kinds of leakage target leakage, and train test spit leakage. At first I did not understand what leakage meant. I think now I have a better idea.

I still have about ten more kaggle tutorials to go through to have completed them all. Probably about 14 to be exact.

I think next I will go through some of the courses I have not finished and work through the feature engineering tutorial and also try a machine learning project. Maybe I will try a competition.

I used to want to learn as many programming languages as I could

And so far that has not worked out for me. So I thought what is it that I want to do with programming. Do I want to make a game. Yes. Do I want to learn more about machine learning. Yes.

I suppose it would have been cool to learn 20+ programming languages though I don’t want to spend that much time in front of a computer. There are other things in life besides computers you know.

And I also thought to myself what programming languages do I want to learn? I want to learn python, pharo and High level assembly.

I want to learn python so I can do machine learning. Pharo because well I think its cool. And High level assembly because I also think its cool. I like that I can use the registers and learn about the computers internals with high level assembly.

So I will see if I ever make a program or not. If I focus on making something like python so I can get good enough to make a program with it then I will know if I am cut out to make programs.

Because in the end what I want to do is make a program not spend the rest of my life learning on programming language one went and another language the next week.

This year I started listening to audio books

I suppose I like to read. Maybe I even like to read. I know I like learning new things. Prior to this year I had never listened to an audio. I thought I don’t want to listen to audio books. I never thought I would listen to audio books.

Then one day I decided to listen to an audio book. When I started listening it was hard to concentrate and not think of other things while I was listening to the book. And when I did not pay attention to what I was listening to I had no idea what I was hearing.

When I read a book I can take my time and think about things while I am reading. But, sometimes I don’t even understand what I am reading.

I used to listen to the radio lot so for me audio books is a lot like listening to the radio. But, I am learning something when I listen to an audio book. Where as when I listened to the radio all I listened to was music or sport talk.

I am getting better at listening to audio books. I like the fact then when I am listening to a book I can look around compared to when I read a book I have my head looking at the book and can’t walk or look around.
