on the internet. And I was thinking I wonder why I ever stopped driving my hawk and hornet? I don’t remember.
Driving RC cars looks so fan and the little bit of memory I have of driving my rc cars are good. I am sure I had fun driving RC cars.
One reason I must have stopped driving my toy grade RC cars was probably having to buy the batteries for the car and transmitter. I wonder how long the batteries lasted in those cars.
And the reason I probably stopped driving my hawk and hornet was probably batteries. And batteries are probably the reason I did not drive them that much. Both of their transmitters needed 8 AAA batteries. I am not sure how long the receiver batteries lasted until they needed to be replaced.
My hornet since it had a mechanical speed control needed 4 more AAA batteries to power the mechanical speed control. So for the hornet that is 12 AAA batteries right there.
I always wanted to convert my transmitters to be able to use rechargeable battery packs. I don’t think I ever thought gee I can buy rechargeable AAA batteries. But, back then I am sure the rechargeable AAA are not is good as they are today.
I had an electronic speed control in the hawk. For some reason I had to put an electronic speed control in it. But, when I had the original mechanical speed control in it it must have needed 4 AAA batteries to power the speed control also so that is 12 AAA batteries for the hawk.
And I am sure I must have switched AAA between the hawk and hornet instead of buying batteries for each.
And to power the cars I had 2 Nicad battery packs. One was red which was the one I got new with the hornet. And the other one was used which I got with the hawk.
I am not sure if the red pack stopped working and that is why I got the used Nicad with the hawk or if still worked.
Maybe both battery packs stopped working and that is why I stopped driving my RC cars. I bet that is the reason. That must have been in the early or mid 1990’s. And batteries must have been the reason I did not drive my cars all the time.
I can’t remember the last time I drove an RC car. It must be at least 30 years ago since I have driving one. That is a long time.
I hope someday that I drive an RC car again. And maybe also RC planes, drones, tanks, motorcycles. I think driving an RC plane would be fun.
And if I ever do drive an RC vehicle again I hope I drive it everyday and drive it around a track that I build.
Now I would get rechargeable AAA for the receivers and at least 2 battery packs so I could have a lot of drive time instead of when the one pack I had runs out and then have to wait for it to charge up.
And I would also want to track run time on the car and for how long the batteries in the transmitters last.
I also think I wrecked the mechanical speed control I took out of the hawk when I put in the electronic speed control. I wish I had not done that.
