I have been thinking about do I want to make a movie or a video game

What is important to me making a video game or making a movie? I know that if I make either one no one will probably ever watched it or play it.

But, the experience of making a video game would be fun I think. I am talking about designing and building sports video games.

I think I would rather make a video game then make a movie. I figure if I make a video game I can make short video sequences.

All this thinking is fun but, I want to get something made. And I don’t know if that will ever happen.

I would like to make 2d and 3d sports games. I really want to make a basketball game. Now all I need to do is become a blender and godot power user.

So I will make a game. Try to anyway. And who knows maybe I will even try to make a movie.

Now all I need to do is get started.

I learned that godot 4.0 came out

I don’t know when exactly it came out but, godot 4.0 is here. I wish I know how to use godot better. But, I don’t.

I don’t want to be a dabbler I want to know how to use programs like a pro would. For me using blender and godot is fun. And I want to build things with the programs. So I need to get to work.

Today I learned how to export a blender model into godot. At first I could not get it to work but, then I figured it out. I watched 2 videos. Or was it 3 videos.

The card game bridge

In my last post I wrote about learning Texas Hold’em. While looking at some poker books I looked at some books about Bridge.

Today I watched a short video on how bridge is played. I still have no idea how to play bridge. And I am not sure I want to learn how to play bridge.

I figure it would be better for me to focus on learning one card game first. And right now I am really interested in learning how to play Texas Hold’em.

Or I suppose I could learn about both games at the same time. I can do whatever I want. Its my life after all.

Oh, well anyway I got interested in learning about bridge.

I am learning how to play Texas holdem

I read an article in a magazine years ago that talked about a man who played it for a living. And I thought it would be cool to learn the game but, I never did.

Recently I thought oh, I don’t want to learn how to play the game. Then I read Texas hold’em for dummies and got excited about the game.

So today I played some Texas hold’em in pokerTh which is a free program I have know about for years. I have even played it a few times.

Before I had had trouble remember the hands but, now I have the poker hands down better so that makes playing the game easier.

I doubt I will ever become a good Texas hold’em player but, I do want to learn more about the game if nothing more than I can follow it on TV better.

I was doing an older version of blender guru’s doughnut tutorial

I had no idea until I went to blender guru’s youtube channel and clicked on playlist and played a video and realized this does not look like the same video I had been watching.

In the new version he uses different techniques to make the doughnut. Somehow I thought he would make it the same way but, not he did not.

I am up to video 4. I hope to finish watching the tutorial and the doughnut soon.

I am working on the blender guru doughnut tutorial

I have finished it in an older version of blender maybe 2.78. But, I have yet to finish the doughnut in a new version of blender.

I was able to make the doughnut OK. But, when it came to making the icing drip down the doughnut I had a problem. The doughnut would show through the icing when I stretched the icing down.

So I thought why not make the icing thicker so I made the thickness of the solidify modifier on the icing 0.003 and it worked. The doughnut no longer showed through the icing.

Then today I lowed the thickness of the icing to 0.002 and there was no doughnut showing through. Oh, at least I got past the little icing problem.

Now I have got to finish the doughnut.

There are so many things I want to learn in blender

Grease pencil, 3d modeling, animation, python. I do enjoy using blender. Its fun to make 3d models but, I also want to learn to use blender grease pencil.

I wish I could learn everything at once but, that never seems to work for me. I usually end up learning nothing. I suppose as long as I am having fun maybe it doesn’t matter if I learn anything. I don’t know.

This year I want to get good at using python with blender. So much I want to learn. I will see what I get done.

I finished my ice cream cone in blender

Today I finished watching the blender ice cream tutorial I have been watching. It was fun making the ice cream cone. I wish I could eat it right now.

I follows the tutorial below. which has 5 parts in all.

The most fun parts of the tutorial had to do with the materials and texturing even though I find those two parts of blender hard. So many nodes to remember. How am I ever going to get good at materials and textures. I will keep working. Maybe one day I will be OK.

I was surprised that a procedural brick texture is used for the waffle texture on the ice cream cone.

Oh, and the tutorial also does compositing. Which I also struggle with.

Anyway it was fun working through the tutorial. I hope to make a scene with a person holding the ice cream cone by a park bench. I will see if I ever get that scene done.

My favorite RC youtube channels

Today I want to write about my favorite RC youtube channels.

My favorite RC channel of my favorite RC channels is RCkicks. The have not released a video in months but, maybe someday they will make new videos again. Its my favorite RC channel because of Joe and Ambers energy. They look like they are having so much fun. I learned about the channel maybe 2 years ago.

The first Rc youtube channel I ever watch is Ampro engineering. Before watching this channel I was unaware that people had youtube channels about RC cars. My favorite series on this channel is his my car series where he talks about his Rc cars. And he has a lot of RC cars. I also like the buyers guide series where he talks about a particular Rc car and if you should want one of that particular RC.

Another RC youtube channel I watch is Rckicks. I found this one by youtubes recommended videos. I started watching the channel before it was Gavin’s full time job. He does unboxings and build videos. And he also restores old Rc’s.

So those are 3 youtube Rc channels I like to watch. I don’t go around looking for new RC youtube channels I pretty much watch the same channels over and over again.

Today I read some of an inkscape tree tutorial

It had never occurred to me to make a tree inkscape. I thought I would need to use also sorts of fancy tools to be able to make a tree but, its not that hard. I have made it through about half the Tree tutorial so far.

It definitely is not as hard as I expect to make a tree in inkscape. I will try and finish the tree tomorrow.
