Its been over a year since

I decided I want to give ethical hacking a try. And do you know what? I have not tried to hack a website. I want to get ethical hacking. Websites are not going to hack themselves. A bug is not going to walk up to say hi. At this rate I am never going to find a bug because I never looked for one.

There are some bright spots. i have used burp suite a little. I have used owasp a little. I finished reading web hacking 101. I watched an ethical hacking course on youtube that was over 10 hours long. I have watched 2 bugcrowd university videos.

I wanted to make music. I now make music that no one wants to listen to. I wanted to make a show where I recorded myself playing video games. Its another thing that I make that no one wants to watch. Two things down.

Now I have ethical hacking in my sights. I am reading owasp testing guide and I want to get it finish. And I want to do capture the flags. Its going to take a lot of work for me to become an ethical hacker. I know that. Its work I want to put in.

As you know I want

to learn how to do ethical hacking. And I knew it was going to be hard to learn how to hack. I have yet to find a bug that might be because I have not searched for one.

I have owasp zap installed on my computer. And now I have burp suite community edition installed on my computer. I remember watching a the instroduction video on hackerone. And in the video he talks about burp suite.

I never thought I would get burp suite on my computer. For that matter I never thought I would get zap set up on my computer. Well I was wrong on both counts. I am now able to run burp suite community edition on my computer. How cool is that.

I have made more progress

on my goal to become an ethical hacker. I finished reading web hacking 101. The other day I completed my first hackerone capture the flag flag capture. I thought I was never going to figure it out. And after I captured the flag I had no idea how to get credit for capturing it. So I watched a video and figured out there was a submit flag link in the toolbar on the top of the page.

And I have even looked at some bug reports on hactivity. I don’t understand what I am reading that much but, I try.

I never thought I was ever going to finish reading web hacking 101. And I never ever thought I would capture a flag on hackerone. To supposedly according me me insurmountable things down. Many more to go.

I felt elated after I submitted my first flag. Then I looked at the second what is it called flag capturing exercise and my elation was deflated. I hope I find a lot more flags. I hope I can become an ethical hacker. I will give it my best effort.

Websites I can hack on

I want to work my way though the hacking problems on hackthissite.org . Its a website that i leaned about from becoming an ethical hacker. So far i have made it thought the first two problems but, I had to watch a video tutorial on those problems to get though them.

And I also want to work though web applications exploits and defenses which is a website I learned about in web hacking 101 book.

If I had never read becoming a hacker or web hacking 101 I would never had thought that there were websites that I could practice hacking on. I would never have know where to get started hacking. So I suppose reading does me some good.

I want to capture the flags on

CTF.LIVE . I tried it a little the other day. I thought this is fun. A version of kali linux runs in my browser. I thought that was so cool. So I will see if i can capture any flags.

Its so hard for me

to understand all the website hacks. I have no clue. I will have to keep trying to learn them. It seems like I will never be able to search for bugs in websites. But, I don’t know what the future will be like. So there is always a chance that I could learn the weaknesses.

Ethical hacker

I want to be one. Unfortunately its easier to write those words than it is to put them into action. I want to know how to hack a website to find the bugs that make it less secure.

I want to have a ranking on bugcrowd and hackerOne. So I will see if I can become an ethical hacker. I don’t hold out much hope of becoming one. I want to try though.
