Free rice website

I don’t know if I have written about free rice on this blog. But, so what if I did. I need to wwrite another blog post so I am going to write about free rice.

Originally I heard about free rice from Kim Komando. I occasionally played the quizzes on free rice. Then I forgot about the website. And then one day I was reading a excerpt of a article in the the download mit technology review newsletter about hunger.

Then I thought about free rice. I had not thought about it in years. So I signed up and and started answering the English vocabulary quiz questions.

Then I found that there are other quizzes I can play. There are latin and Spanish vocabulary quizzes. I really enjoy the Spanish vocabulary quizzles

oh, I forget to mention that free rice donates 5 grains of rice for every correct quiz answer. Right now I have over 5,000 grains of rice and I only get 1 gain for every correct answer. But, it used to be that I got five. So after you donate so many grains of rice they must change the about of rice you donate for every correct answer.

I looked at the leader board and I think the top person had donated over 1,000,000 grains of rice. Wow. That is a lot of donated grains of rice. Very cool.

This year I hope to get better

At using gimp, blender, and inkscape. I make a project a week with blender. But, I have never really made any projects with gimp, or inkscape.

I have read a book about gimp though. And I tried some of the projects in the book. But, I don’t use gimp or inkscape daily or even much at all

So for this year I want to get better at using gimp or inkscape or both.

When I was younger I

Put together 2 model rockets. The kits were not very complicated. Maybe I did not have to put anything together. I do remember one time when I flew a model rocket. It had a parachute. I thought they were fun.

I don’t know why I got into model rockets and I don’t know why I have not flown a model rocket in years.

i mean all I have to do is take the rocket out of the box and launch it. Its not to complicated. Maybe I will get some model rocket kits together and fly them this year. I hope so.

Also last year I wanted to

learn how to build robots and maybe even build a robot. That did not happen. I am sure that building a robot would be more fun than using a computer. I would get to move around a lot more.

So maybe this year I will finally take the plunge and build a robot. At least I hope I do.

I want to learn

about a different plant a day. I am not going to learn more about plants by hoping or wishing that I learned about plants.

I know a lot more about plants than I did years ago but, I still don’t know as much as I want about them.

Today I watched a video about broom corn. I think I might have grown broom corn years ago. But, I never made brooms out of them. I think that would be interesting ot make brooms out of broom corn that I have grown.

Its been years since I have

picked up a yoyo. I can’t remember the last time I used one. I remember the last yoyo I got came with a little booklet. That booklet had instructions on how to do yoyo tricks. I don’t remember the names of any of the tricks in the booklet.

I do remember trying to learn the yoyo trucks from that little booklet and not doing very well. So if I ever get a yoyo again I want to watch youtube videos of yoyo trick tutorials. Maybe that will help me learn tricks. Seeing a video of the trick would be a lot easier to see the trick than reading from a booklet.

I learn juggling trucks by watching youtube video. So I am positive that I would be able to learn yoyo tricks the same way.

I want to improve my memory

Sever years ago I read a book called Remember it by Nelson Dellis. In the book he talks about techniques to improve you memory. And at the end of the book he talks about what you should practice and how long you should practice to improve your memory.

I wanted to improve my memory but, I have not done much to do so since I read Remember it. In the book he mentioned some websites that had memory games. I bookmarked them but, have not visited them since I bookmarked them.

So this year I hope I go to some of those websites I hope I improve my memory.

Last year I said

I wanted to learn how to solve a Rubik’s. Well I did watch a documentary about speedcubing on youtube called why we cube. But, I still have no idea how to solve a Rubik’s cube.

I have not picked up a Rubik’s cube in years. Maybe this will be the year that I learn how to speeddcube. I will see.
